Jennifer is a Nationally Certified School Counselor working with students individually and in group settings from K-12th grade. After starting her family, Jennifer went back to work in private practice as a Registered Marriage & Family Therapy Intern. She focuses on social, emotional and behavioral functioning at home and at school. Jennifer is also an independent contractor for the 9th District (Orange & Osceola Counties) as a FL Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator & Parenting Coordinator where she works as a neutral, 3rd party to help families focus on a child’s needs during a divorce or separation.

As a Conscious Discipline certified instructor, Jennifer also helps to facilitate teacher instruction with Dr. Becky Bailey, internationally renowned child psychology expert. Jennifer started Your Bright Side, PLC in March 2013 to provide a comprehensive range of services for students, families and schools to help bridge the gap between home and success in school.

Heather Friedman is a licensed individual and family therapist who received her Master of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida in Mental Health Counseling. She has experience working in residential, community, school-based, and private mental health settings. She specializes in the population of youth and young adulthood while focusing in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, behavior modification, self-esteem, adjustment, grief, and adverse child life experiences such as divorce and separation. She works from a cognitive behavioral framework while implementing expressive art techniques. She has extensive training in the area of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and is currently under consultation for national certification as a TF-CBT therapist.

Outside of her practice, Heather works as a professor in the area of life skills and student success. She is passionate about serving her community as an advocate for youth mental health awareness. Heather believes that change comes from accepting ourselves where we are, and working towards growth in areas of concern. She strives to create a safe and nurturing environment for her clients to change and grow while focusing on their strengths. Her clients express that her friendly, humorous, and genuine demeanor creates a comfortable and nonjudgmental environment for session.
